I finally signed up for my first UCB class. I have been wanting to take an improv class for a couple years now and for some reason I kept putting it off--I didn't have the time (or the money), I was busy with work, I got cast in something, etc. But I think I finally realized the real reason keeping me from taking my first formal improv class--Fear.
I love improv. I have a blast every time I do it. I love to joke around with my friends and roommates, I love to create goofy characters. I love doing improv for auditions. But for some reason, the idea of a class scares the crap out of me.
So I have taken the plunge. I am signed up for Improv 101 and I am actually really excited. My first class is a week and can't wait to get in that room and face my fear.
College Humor and "Hello My Name Is"
So yesterday was my birthday. And it may have been the best birthday I could have asked for.
But let me back up.
My roommate Rachel and I absolutely LOVE the webseries on College Humor called "Hello My Name Is" which is an improv show with two actors, one of whom gets dressed up in ridiculous make-up, gets one minute to create a character and then gets interviewed by the other actor as that character. We quote the show all the time and think the two actors on it are brilliant. Rachel and I always joke around that we will be quoting it on the subway and Josh (one of the actors) will walk on and hear us.
Rachel is on the subway last week and who walks on, but Josh from "Hello My Name Is." Of course Rachel talks to him and comes to find that they are filming an episode of the show on Tuesday the 22nd and need actors. He asks her to forward her information along with mine and my other roommates and he will get us on the show. And he did!
So yesterday for my birthday I got to be on set all day for one of my favorite webseries working with some wonderful actors and crew.
And that, dear friends, is why my birthday yesterday was one of the best birthdays I have ever had.
Episode on "The NOT Show"
I recently booked a webisode on "The NOT Show" and I couldn't be more excited. I film on Friday and canNOT wait to meet some great new people.
My new show "Almost, Maine"
My new show "Almost, Maine" opens Thursday, August 4th at 8pm at The 45th Street Theatre in Manhattan! I have been very lucky to work with such a talented cast and director. Can't wait to open!! Come check it out!
Filming in Maine
This past week I had the great privilege to work with the INCREDIBLY talented Mattson Tomlin again while we worked on a project in Lake Onawa, Maine. The week was full of hard work, a TON fun, a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, and a great cast and crew. For my character most of the filming took place in the water. This was a really fascinating new experience for me because I have never shot anything or had to act in water before and I had a great time.
I feel very blessed and a HUGE thank you to everyone involved.
P.S. EVERYONE should go to Maine. Nuff' said.
New "Madeleine Zabel" review!
The reviews for "Madeleine Zabel" keep pouring in! Here is the latest:
A highlight from this review, "The characters are so well-written and well-acted that you can easily believe they are real. ...The players performed their parts at ease, like they had not been drowned in the routine of memorizing an infinite number of lines and intensified rehearsing. ...The D'Angelo and Coffey duet was sensational, as they both created wonderful portrayals of characters whose destinies were entrusted to them. ..."

"Madeleine Zabel" Reviews!
There are a couple "Madeleine Zabel" reviews up!
The latest can be found at http://www.theindependentcritic.com/madeleine_zabel
A highlight from this one, "Jenna D'Angelo is absolutely mesmerizing as the young socialite, managing to infuse an almost Paris Hilton like young woman with a tremendous rawness and authenticity that is compelling and impossible to ignore."
The second is at http://www.filmmattic.com/2011/06/short-film-review-madeleine-zabel.html
A highlight from this review, "Jenna inhabits the eponymous Maddy Z with a fiery intensity. She unearths subtle hints as to her denouement without revealing too much too soon; an accomplishing feat given the minimal running time. In essence, her character's journey unfolds organically."
Check 'em out! I'm very excited about these and to see where "Madeleine Zabel" can go!
The full version of "Madeleine Zabel" is up and running!! We have an indiegogo campaign to raise money to help fund submissions to festivals.
